Eligibility Criteria
The following types of organisations are eligible for a HSBC DIRECT for business account:
- Sole Proprietorships
- Partnerships
- Hindu Undivided Families
- Private Limited Companies
- Public Limited Companies
- Trusts, Societies and Associations

Sole Proprietorship / Partnership Firm
Proof of Identity for the entity (any one document):
- Sales / Service Tax / Excise Registration
- Registration under Shops and Establishment Act
- PAN ID / IT return of the firm
- Water / Electricity / Municipal Tax bill in the name of the firm
- For entities less than two months old, a copy of the application made to the Regulatory Authority for starting new business. (Original approval should be produced within three month from opening the account.)
Proof of Identity for the Individual / authorized signatories / all partners and delegates:
- Passport / Photo PAN Card / Driving License / Voter's ID
Proof of Address for the Sole Proprietor / All partners, signatories and delegates (any one):
- Passport
- Ration Card
- Society Outgoing bill
- Latest copy of Life Insurance Policy / Premium receipt
- Latest Electricity Bill
- Latest Telephone Bill (Landline / Mobile)
- Voter's ID
- Driving License
Other documents:
- Partnership Deed for Partnership firms
- Photographs of Sole proprietor / all Partners and authorized signatories
- A Trade Credit Information report of the personal account of the Sole Proprietor or alternatively signature verification of the personal account of the sole proprietor from his existing bank and copy of the last six months statement of the personal account of the sole proprietor.
- For entities less than two months old, copy of licence/permission granted by Local authorities and valid title/lease deeds of manufacturing and business premises.
Hindu Undivided Families
Proof of Identity for the entity (any one document):
- PAN ID of the HUF
- Registration under Shops and Establishment Act
- PAN ID / IT return of the firm
- Water / Electricity / Municipal tax bill in the name of the concern
- MAPIN card in the name of the firm
Proof of Identity for the authorized signatories and delegates:
- Passport / Photo PAN Card / Driving License / Voter's ID to be submitted for Karta and all adult members and proof of existence of minors
Proof of Address for Karta and all Adult members and delegates (any one):
- Passport
- Ration Card
- Society Outgoing bill
- Latest copy of Life Insurance Policy / Premium receipt
- Latest Electricity Bill
- Latest Telephone Bill (Landline / Mobile)
- Voter's ID
- Driving License
- Proof of date of birth of minor (if any)
Other Documents:
- Photographs of Karta and all Adult members
Limited / Private Limited Companies
Proof of Identity for the entity (any one document):
- Sales / Service Tax / Excise Registration
- Registration under Shops and Establishment Act
- PAN ID / IT return of the company
- Water / Electricity / Municipal Tax bill in the name of the company
- Annual Return filed after AGM
- For entities less than two months old, a copy of the application made to the Regulatory Authority for starting new business. (Original approval should be produced within three month from opening the account.)
Proof of Identity for all the authorized signatories, Directors authorized to sign and Delegates:
- Passport / Photo PAN Card / Driving License / Voter's ID
- For Private Limited Companies - ID proof of all Principal Shareholders (with more than 10% shareholding) and at least two directors including the managing director is also required
Proof of Address for all authorized signatories and Delegates (any one document):
- Latest Electricity bill
- Latest Telephone bill (Landline / Mobile)
- Latest copy of Life Insurance Policy / Premium receipt
- Society outgoing bill
- Valid Passport
- Voter's ID
- Driving License
- Ration Card
Other Documents:
- Memorandum and Articles of Association
- Certificate of Incorporation
- Board Resolution
- List of directors
- Photographs of all authorized signatories and directors authorized to sign
- For entities less than two months old, copy of licence/permission granted by Local authorities and valid title/lease deeds of manufacturing and business premises.
Only for Private Limited / Unlisted Companies
- Latest Annual Return (Schedule V of the Companies Act 1956)
- If the list of directors does not tally with MOA/AOA then please submit certified true copy of the Form 32 filed with ROC
Trust / Society / Association
Proof of Identity for the entity (any one document):
Documents for Society / Association
- Society / Association registration certificate under the specific Act
- PAN ID / IT return
Documents for Trust
- Registration certificate issued by Charity Commissioner / Sub Registrar of Assurances
- Trust Deed
- PAN ID / IT return
Proof of Identity for all the authorized signatories, Directors authorized to sign and Delegates:
- Passport / Photo PAN Card / Driving License / Voter's ID
Proof of Address for all authorized signatories and Delegates (any one document):
- Latest Electricity bill
- Latest Telephone bill (Landline / Mobile)
- Latest copy of Life Insurance Policy / Premium receipt
- Society outgoing bill
- Valid Passport
- Voter's ID
- Driving License
- Ration Card
Other Documents:
- Bye-laws / Rules and regulations / Memorandum and Articles / Charter / (as applicable)
- Photographs of all authorized signatories
- Certified list of name and addresses of all office bearers
- Proof of approval of trust by the IT under section 12Aa. (Only for PF / Gratuity / Pension Trust)
- Resolution passed by the Managing Committee / Board / Trustees / Office bearers
- Copy of latest IT return and returns submitted to the Charity Commissioner (Trust)
- IT certificate for Welfare Trust under section 12AA.
