Key security features of HSBCnet are summarised below:
Security Device is used to authenticate your identity when you log on to HSBCnet. It works by generating a security code unique to your account that HSBCnet can recognize. This code can only be used to access the site once and the Security Device will calculate a new security code the next time you log on. For this reason, this code is sometimes referred to as a one-time password. This security code also has an expiry period and will only be valid for a set period of time before a new code has to be generated using the Security Device.
This dynamic security code system has a number of benefits over traditional static passwords; not least that the code changes each time you log on, making it extremely difficult to guess or successfully compromise using malicious software. The Security Device, therefore, represents a significant enhancement in security when compared to traditional passwords.
The Security Device is protected by a PIN, which must be keyed in before it can be used. Depending on the functionality you are trying to access, HSBCnet may also seek to re-authenticate your identity after you have logged on by requesting you to provide another security code.
HSBCnet accepts files in a variety of file formats like SWIFT, which is a worldwide standard and is used by all the leading ERP Systems. Further, simple text files in the i-file format can be easily generated by most Back Office Systems and can be uploaded on HSBCnet.
Additionally, HSBC can provide you with the programs to upload your excel spreadsheets into HSBCnet for all your payment instructions.
HSBCnet does not have any restrictions on the number of authorized signatories for each account. The system supports complex Board Resolutions of companies, whereby it is possible for the company to define the signing limits for each of its signatories.
