HSBC Securities Services (HSS) offers a wide range of securities services to corporate and institutional clients. HSS operates in 50 countries and territories worldwide, including Europe, the Asia-Pacific, the Americas, the Middle East and Africa.

HSBC Securities Services in India

With a dedicated team of experienced and professional staff, the geographical reach and technological strength of one of the largest financial services organisations in the world, HSS is the premier provider of sub-custody and securities clearing services to foreign institutional investors (FIIs) in India, both in terms of size and quality of delivery.

HSS commenced its operations in India with the launch of its sub-custody and securities clearing services in 1993 and facilitated the first FII trade in India. We are also one of the largest sub-custody providers in India and provide award-winning services to close to 40% of foreign institutional investors’ (FII) investment in India. We work closely with regulators and other market participants and have pioneered several initiatives that have subsequently become market practices.

Over time, with a view to becoming an integrated, one-stop securities services provider to our clients, we have added many new services to our suite. At present, services offered by HSS in India can be grouped under three broad areas: sub-custody and clearing, fund services and corporate trust and loan agency services.

• Sub-custody and clearing offers the following services to cross-border institutional investors including global custodians and broker dealers:
  • Core sub-custody services :
    • clearing and settlement of securities trades
    • FX and remittances
    • proxy voting services
    • tracking and collection of corporate actions and reporting
  • Current news bulletins and market information
  • Derivatives clearing in our capacity as a professional clearing member
  • Clearing of securities lending and borrowing transactions
  • Tax services
• HSS provides fund services to domestic institutional investors such as mutual funds, portfolio managers, banks and insurance companies offering:
  • Fund accounting: NAV computation
  • Customised client reporting and regulatory reporting
  • Core custody services - clearing and settlement of securities trades tracking and collection of corporate actions and reporting
  • Support services to Portfolio Management Service (PMS) providers
• HSS provides the following Corporate Trust and Loan Agency services to corporations, institutional investors and lending institutions:
  • Escrow agency services in support of a variety of transactions which includes
    • Mergers and acquisitions
    • Collateral accounts
    • Debt repayments
    • Trading requirement escrow deposits
    • Buyback and open offers of shares
    • Initial Public Offerings
  • Security Trustee services, where we hold security on behalf of lenders.
  • Facility Agent Services, where we co-ordinate the actions of the lenders and act as a single point of contact for borrowers in syndicated facilities and multiple banking facilities
  • Securitisation Trustee/ Investor Representative
