The recently held Davos Economic Forum warned that the economic slump should not be an excuse for further delaying actions against climate change. More promisingly, many countries including India have announced green economic stimulus plans that are expected to increase both employment and energy efficiency. Green recovery is also high on the agenda of the forthcoming international business summits in London and Copenhagen, which has a core task of stabilizing the global financial system and coordinating efforts to rescue the global economy.
To examine the role that business might play in promoting this scenario, TERI-BCSD India in association with HSBC India organised 'Talking Tomorrow' with Mr Stephen Green, Group Chairman of HSBC Holdings plc., followed by a panel discussion on "Business of Climate Change: The Journey Ahead" on 17 April 2009 at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi. The panel discussion was presided over by Dr. R.K Pachauri. |
