DIVYA INDIRA JACOB Divya is pursuing her second Masters degree in International Studies at The London School of Economics and Political Science. She completed a Bachelors degree in Economics from Stella Maris College in Chennai after which she did an MA in International Relations from the same institution.
Divya's interest in International Relations lies in studying the causes, processes and consequences of conflict. She also takes interest in examining the effects of conflict on the political, social and economic structures of developing nations. Her interest in the subject stems largely from her childhood experiences in post-conflict Ethiopia where she witnessed a nation mired in the poverty of conflict.
Divya believes that there is an urgent and unmet need for academicians and policy makers to converge in creating effective policies to tackle the distinctive needs of conflict resolution, poverty and development. She strongly believes that with a comprehensive education in the economics and politics of conflict, she can contribute through a career that helps bridge the damaging chasm between those who study conflict and those who create policies to address its consequences.
By pursuing this opportunity at an institution as dynamic as the London School of Economics, Divya is confident of marking a career in the non-profit sector in the field of international relations and human security. In the future, she hopes to join the academia that guides the next generation of policy makers to be sensitive to the unique needs of the Third World.

RISHAB GUPTA Rishab is pursuing an undergraduate degree in law at the London School of Economics and Political Science. He has completed a bachelor's degree in Mathematics from St Stephen's College, New Delhi.
But Law after Mathematics? As disjointed as the two subjects may be, Rishab believes that the skills of analysis, interpretation and logical reasoning that he has developed while studying Mathematics, will prove to be invaluable assets in the study of Law.
As a legal aid volunteer with Aman Ekta Manch, an NGO, Rishab, along with a group of law students from Delhi University, recorded testimonies and collected information on cases of loss of life, property and sexual violence suffered by the Muslim communities during the communal violence that followed the Godhra massacre in Gujarat in 2002.
Though the group failed in their attempt to publish a report, Rishab's experience convinced him that if he could equip himself with the requisite knowledge of law, he would be in a position to seek practical solutions to real world problems across the globe. The desire to help the underprivileged achieve a life of dignity and honour, also made him work for the dislocated Kashmiri migrants.
Rishab, a national-level badminton player for over seven years, believes that the issues of human rights, perverse exercise of public authority by the government and terrorism are no longer domestic in terms of their impact. He believes that studying Law at LSE, will broaden his perspective on these issues.
