HSBC is committed to protecting the security of our HSBC Internet Banking customers and is issuing this Security Device to all HSBC Internet Banking customers to ensure that online banking continues to offer very high levels of security.
What if I lose or damage my Security Device?
If you lose or damage your Security Device, please call our 24-hour helpline numbers given in this usage guide to order a replacement device. Replacements will be charged as per our prevailing tariff.
Will my account be safe if the Security Device is stolen?
If someone steals the Security Device, they still do not have your existing username and password, which only you know. Hence, they cannot access your account. You should hence avoid personalising your Security Device in a way that would allow an individual to know your exact identity or your Internet Banking ID and/ or password.
How long does the battery last?
The battery in the Security Device has been designed to last three to five years. When your battery begins to run low, the message, "BATT" will appear on the LCD screen. At this point, you should call our 24-hour helpline numbers given in this usage guide to have a replacement device sent to your correspondence address.
Can I use my Security Device when I am travelling abroad?
Yes, you can.
How do I request for a Security Device if I have just self registered for Internet Banking?
Before I receive the Security Device, can I perform any transaction online?
After you have self registered for Personal Internet Banking, you will be able to request for a security device from the option "Order Security Device" from the Service Menu on the Left hand side . The Security Device should be received within 7 working days by customers residing in India and within 14 working days by customers residing overseas. Customers who do not have a security device will need to logon using Passwords Only and order a security device.
