What is the Mobile Alerts service?
HSBC's Mobile Alert is a service that allows you to stay updated on your banking transactions on your mobile. To receive these Mobile Banking Alerts you have to register and subscribe to the specific alerts, except for Debit/Credit Card usage alerts, which will be defaulted for you without registration.
What are the different kinds of alerts that I can get?
Just click on the type of account you hold with us, to view the list of available alerts:
Kindly note no registration required for Debit/Credit Card transaction alerts.
How often will I receive the alerts?
Based on your selection, you will receive the alert(s) when the particular event happens. In case of transaction alerts, you will receive the alert whenever you transact using your Debit/Credit card.
Do I have to register for the Mobile Alert service? If so, how?
Yes, you have to register to get Mobile Alerts. You can walk into any HSBC branch and fill an application form or simply call us and let our Customer Relationship Executives do the needful. However , for Debit card / Credit card alerts registration is not required.
Once registered, do I get all the alerts or do I register for each alert separately?
While registering, you need to specify the alerts that you wish to receive. You will receive only those alerts that you have chosen except for Debit card / Credit card alerts which will not require registration and hence you shall receive them by default.
Suppose I have more than one account - will I have to subscribe to the alerts separately for each or is one-time registration possible?
You don't have to register separately for each account. When you register, just fill in the account numbers you want to receive the alerts for.
Is it possible to receive my alerts on more than one mobile number?
No, we will send the alerts on only one mobile number per customer. However for joint accounts, both account holders can give separate mobile numbers to receive the alerts.
In case I have a joint account with HSBC, do you send alerts to both account holders?
We will send the alerts to the individual registered for the service. If both account holders have registered, both of you will receive alerts. If one of the account holders has registered, only one will receive alerts. In case of Debit card usage by either of the joint account holders (purchase transactions, ATM cash withdrawal etc), the transaction alerts will be sent only to the mobile number updated on the joint customer ID.
Are there any charges for the Mobile Alerts service?
Our Mobile Alerts service is a value added service and is made available to our customers completely FREE of cost. However telecom operator charges may apply.
Do I need a special phone for receiving SMS based alerts?
An ordinary GSM/CDMA mobile with an Indian number registered with any service provider, will be able to receive the SMS based alerts. If you are travelling abroad, you need to ensure that you have subscribed to the international roaming facility provided by your telecom operator to ensure uninterrupted Mobile Alerts, operator charges may apply.
Is there any restriction on the number of alerts I can subscribe to?

If you wish to stop receiving Mobile Alerts, just call our Phone Banking numbers. If you have an Internet Banking account, you can unsubscribe using the 'Mobile Banking and Alerts' option. In case of transaction alerts on Debit/Credit usage, there is no option to unsubscribe.
How much time does it take for me to receive an alert after doing a transaction?
